Breast cancer is a sickness that happens when some cells in the breast start to grow strangely and can form lumps called tumors. If the tumors aren’t treated, they can spread to other parts of the body and become very dangerous.

Breast cancer starts in parts of the breast where milk is made or travels through tiny tubes called ducts. At first, the cancer cells stay in these areas and don’t cause serious problems. But if they spread to other breast parts, they can make lumps or thick areas. If the cancer keeps spreading, it can reach nearby areas like lymph nodes or other body organs, which can be very serious and even life-threatening.

Treating breast cancer depends on the person and how far the cancer has spread. The main treatments include surgery to remove the cancer, using strong rays called radiation, and taking special medicines.

Who Can Get Breast Cancer?
Breast cancer mostly happens to women, but men can get it too, although it’s much rarer for them. Certain things can increase the chances of getting breast cancer, like getting older, being overweight, drinking a lot of alcohol, having a family member who had breast cancer, or using tobacco. Also, women who started having periods very early or had their first baby later in life might have a higher risk.

Sometimes, breast cancer runs in families because of certain genes that can be passed down, like BRCA1 and BRCA2. If someone has these genes, doctors might suggest ways to reduce the risk, like taking medicine or even having surgery to remove breast tissue.

Signs That Might Show Breast Cancer
In the beginning, a person with breast cancer might not notice anything different, which is why it’s important to catch it early. Here are some signs to look out for:

A lump or thick spot in the breast, which might not hurt.
Changes in the size, shape, or look of the breast.
Skin that looks red, dimpled, or has other changes.
The nipple or the area around it seems different.
Unusual or bloody fluid coming from the nipple.

If you notice these signs, it’s important to tell a doctor so they can check it out early. The earlier the cancer is found, the easier it is to treat.
